According to an Ofcom report just published the average UK adult spends more time communicating and using media (8 hours 41 mins) than they do sleeping (8 hours 21 mins).

The comprehensive study of 2000 adults and 800 children demonstrates that the digital revolution is continuing apace.

Amongst the 16-24s group, an average day consists of over 14 hours of media and communications activity, which is squeezed into 9 hours 8 minutes by multi-tasking, with various media and devices used concurrently.

Clearly, tablet and smartphone use is a huge factor in the increased exposure to digital content and services

The 16-24 age group of young adults use their smartphones for an average of 3 hours 36 minutes each day, which is three times the 1 hour 22 minute average for all adults.
